Today is a happy yet sad day for my husband. He will be leaving Coca-Cola where he has been working at for the past 4 years. He has enjoyed everyone that he has worked with and the experiences that he has experienced. He will miss everyone that he has met and made relationships with. But with this, he will be embarking on a new chapter in his career starting next week.
Greg went to College and got is degree in Business. After graduating he chased his dream as a professional Golfer. He did it the right way by getting his college degree before chasing his dream in case he did not make it on the PGA Tour. He could fall back on his degree. I love a smart man! After graduating college, Greg set out to chase his dream. He played professional golf for about 3 years. On his 3rd year, he told himself that if he did not make it through Q-school he would decide to go to work. In Greg's 3 years, the best he did at Q-school was missing final stage by 2 strokes. It was a very sad day for him but he kept his head held high and went to look for a job. Along his journey, Greg met many Men and inspirations at the golf course he belonged to "Dove Canyon" which was his home turf. Many of these men being like a father figures to him and always giving him the best advice. He always hoped that one day, one of them would ask him to go to work for them in their great companies. It was not in Gods plans for him at that time. He got offered a position at Coke and accepted. He started at the bottom and in the 3 years he was promoted every year. His final position being Warehouse Supervisor. He had passed guys that had been there 10 and 12 years. Greg will always work hard no matter what, but was Coke really the job that he wanted? No....He wanted more.
About 1 month ago Greg was playing in a golf tournament and they had a men's dinner on Friday night before the tournament. He sat next to a very dear friend that actually sponsored him through his golf career and always believed in Greg. Bob looked at Greg and said: "I have been thinking about you for quite sometime and would love for you to come and work for me?" Greg did not even hesitate and called me right away and I told him YES, what the heck are you waiting for?? He went in the next week and interviewed with Bob and his partner and they offered him the job!!!!! Greg will now be working for an Investment firm and doing what he loves. The best part is most of there business is done on the golf course, and how convenient it is that?
I am a true believer anymore that it is not about what you know it is about who you know. I also believe that when you work at something you love and strive for it, it will ALWAYS pay off! I am so proud of my husband for the man he is and the man he will become. He is an amazing husband, soon to be dad, and honestly my inspiration in life. Greg I am so proud of you and thank GOD everyday for you and the many blessings we have in our life. To a new chapter and a beautiful baby on the way!
