Our Angel In Heaven-Megan Gerhard Weisberg

3/29/12

This post will probably be a very hard one to talk about, but a couple of weeks ago a very dear friend of mine Megan Gerhard-Weisberg lost her life while giving birth to her beautiful baby boy "Tosh David Weisberg". I know when you think about it long and hard, which I have been doing for days...how could this happen?? How could God let this happen? It really is hard to grasp your finger around it. These are things that rarely happen anymore and there not supposed to happen and to the one's you care for the most or at least that is what you tell yourselves....The preliminary diagnosis for the condition Megan suffered was Amnionic Fluid Embolism (AFE). I still have to google it to understand what really happend.

In life we don't know why things happen or what is going to happen. God is the only one that knows that. Megan was a beautiful and loving person. She had a smile that could light up the room. Megan and I have been friends since we were little. I was so excited for our boys to play together and have some play dates in our near future. I know Megan will be looking down on everyone and making sure her boys and husband our well taken care of and loving them at every moment. I hope one day my son and her son Tosh will be able to meet and I can tell him how beautiful and amazing his mommy was!!

 No one knows why some things don't work out, while others do, or why some of us get lucky and others don't. The journey is what matters. The celebrations of the milestones and highlights, as well as the people in our lives...those that stay, those that come and go, those that come back or are gone for good. Cherish the momen...ts you have, whether positive or negative and grow with them, from them or just because of them. Life is too short and we all should live life to its fullest, every moment of every day and never look back or have regrets. I will miss you Megan! You and your family profoundly impacted me during my youth & teenage  soccer years. I have been so blessed to have you in my life. Rest in peace, my friend...you will never be forgotten and will forever be missed! Much love to Jodi, Cadyn, Eryn, Karen, Dave and, of course, precious baby Tosh!!!

Pregnancy Journal :: 24 Weeks

3/26/12

Is it me or is anyone else loving this cold weather the past day or so? I know a lot of people don’t like the cold weather, but I do and I love rainy days and dressing in comfy clothes, sitting on the couch and watching movies with my hubby. I think it must be that I am 24 weeks pregnant and my belly is getting much bigger. I am not looking forward to the few months of summer that I will be 8 and 9 months pregnant. Hopefully it will not be too hot! Below is a little inside of my pregnancy so far:
·     I have only gained about 17 pounds, but they are going fast. I just told my husband the other day that it is crazy how all of sudden you get these hunger urges and want to eat everything. I have been doing well with sticking to a healthy diet.
·     I absolutely love and crave ice cream or should we say “Yogurt Land” If you have not tried it you must go and get one. It is to die for.
·     My nights of sleep I think are pretty much over. Between my husband snoring, my cat wanting to be right next to me, my growing belly and my frequent bathroom trips have gotten me no sleep! As my mom would say this is a class 101 for when my son arrives. He is preparing me!
·         I am still working out every day. It’s either a 40 minute walk or 40 minutes on the lyptical.
·         Being pregnant and still trying to look cute is not on the top of my list. My weekends are usually a pair of jeans with a top and a cute sweater. I feel so comfortable in them, and I am all about being comfortable these days.
·    Our son is moving a lot these days. I usually feel him the most after dinner when I lay on the couch to watch our TV shows. It’s a bonding time for Mommy and Daddy.
·    I talk to him every day and tell him how much I love him.
·    My feet get really tired really fast. I cannot stand on them for too long. It’s weird too because they are not swollen or anything it’s just the bottom of my feet that hurt.

I still cannot believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by so far. Of course there are still a few things we need to do to prepare ourselves for the arrival of our son, but I cannot wait for him to come and to be a Mommy!

Soccer Time

3/25/12

This last weekend our niece Chloe started soccer. I have never seen her so excited in her whole life!! She told my sister the night before that "she really hopes she scores a goal". So I am not sure if everyone knows  but my sister and I growing up played soccer every year starting from the time we were about 6 years old all the way through our senior year in highschool. I know especially for my sister this was a very special day. As for me I was a very proud auntie. She did so good and of course looked so cute in her uniform.

Pregnancy Journal :: 23 Weeks

What can I say but that time really does fly when you are pregnant. I cannot believe I am almost 6 months and only have about 3 months and 24 days left. This week I have felt or should I say WE have felt our son move. He is getting bigger now which means I can feel him moving and groovin. I am so excited about this because I know he is in there and healthy. Greg got to feel him for the first time, and his face lit up like a little kid, it was so cute. He is already a proud daddy! It is not too much but enough that it is more then butterflies. I am loving every minute of being pregnant and enjoying these special moments with my husband and our son. I am so in love with him!!!!

Nothing new to report. Plugging along and feeling great!!!

Pregnancy Journal:: 21 Weeks

3/7/12

Wow am I growing! I feel like every week I am getting bigger and bigger. Our son is finally growing at a rapid pace; I guess he should since we have 4 months to go. Last Friday Greg and I went for my 20 week check up and the big ultra sound for our son. They measured all of the Anatomy of his brain, lungs, spine, lip, etc….He is healthy and growing strong. He is actually 2 days ahead of what he should be.  I have finally kicked my nasty headaches that I have been having and now starting to feel like I have a bunch of energy. I am going to enjoy every moment of it because it will go downward quick once I start to reach my due date. I am starting yoga this week. It will help a lot with my blood flow and stretching to prepare me for the birth of our Son!

Chili & Corn Bread

3/1/12

Chili and Corn Bread is a favorite meal for Greg and I.  We could honestly eat it once a week. I thought since I was making it tonight that I would share our recipe that we love so much.
  • A pound and a half of turkey meat. Yes of course you can use regular meat but in this house we use turkey meat.
  • 2 cans of chili beans
  • 2 cans of corn
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes
  • 1 can of spicy salsa, it gives it a great kick
  • 1 packet of chili seasoning and any kind of your choice
  • Half of an onion
  • 1 packet of Marie Calander's Corn Bread mix. It is honestly the easiest and the best
I love making Chili because the serving is more then enough and you will always have left overs. For me I love making meals that are easy and that can be eaten another day in the week!
