Milestones and beyond

3/17/16

Milestones....I am sure that's something we are all familiar with? In our house it's always been a big deal, it's been something that we celebrate because it's a huge step in Dylan's development and steps he is taking in his daily life! I am pretty darn proud of this kid right now. He has been making leaps and bounds in his all around growth! But one of the biggest challenges for us has always bee...n his eating. That's eating independently for more then 10 minutes and with out throwing his food😂 and eating with a fork and spoon with out mommy and daddy having to feed him. Well this kid the last two weeks has over achieved all of that!!! Sitting through all of his meals, feeding himself and being such a big boy! But up until this point the struggles are real, the work is hard and when we are tired and drained we still work. We work everyday so that this boy can have an amazing life! But what gives me even more joy is seeing how hard Dylan works and always with a smile. Praise your kids always, love them always and let them know they are great! Be there for them, love them and always tell them they are special! Your dedication in your kids will always be the greatest gift you can give them!

Challengers League

3/9/16

About a month ago I was introduced to a baseball team in our city called the Challengers League. This is a baseball team with in the league for all kids with special needs. I was so excited when I found out about it because I had been wanting to get Dylan into something to help a little more with his social skills. This is also great because it will get us out of the house and to meet other families in our community!

This program was created about 12 years ago from a great Man. His son was born with special needs and he wanted his son to be able to enjoy sports just like any other kid out there. So he started this team! His son is now on the adult challengers league and thriving in baseball. He actually plays on a typical team once in awhile too. I love that we live in such a great society today where our kiddos can be loved just like all the other kids and grow up to be awesome! I was a little nervous signing Dylan up, as Greg and I feel he is just one year shy of really being able to understand and follow directions... but we went with it. It was the best decision we ever made. He loves it and we are so thrilled to be apart of this team! And of course we can't forget about our miss Haylee. If she had it her way she would be right on the field with everyone else!
